LS Comfort

The LS Comfort patient table for refractive laser surgery enables exact positioning at the focal point thanks to high-precision Z/X/Y adjustment and an electrically movable, tilting headrest. Ideal for excimer and femtosecond lasers. Interlocks/safety systems and the joystick control support a safe, ergonomic workflow.

Features of modern patient tables for refractive laser surgery

Modern examination tables are technically sophisticated and designed for maximum functionality in everyday practice. Below we highlight the most important features - from height adjustment and the lying surface to upholstery and accessories - so that you can make the best choice for your practice.

Areas of application

The LS Comfort has been specially developed for eye surgery - its core area of application is refractive laser surgery. Thanks to integrated safety systems and interlocks, it can be used both under an excimer laser and under a femtosecond laser with a rigid laser head. As an option, the upper section can be swiveled 35° to the left and/or right, allowing both laser systems to be combined to form a "laser suite". The AKRUS laser beds are used with products from leading laser manufacturers.

FAQ - on patient couches for refractive laser surgery

1What is a patient stretcher?
A patient couch is a special couch or table on which patients can lie during medical examinations or treatments. They are familiar from doctors' surgeries, clinics or physiotherapy facilities. Basically, it is a piece of medical furniture with an upholstered surface that is designed to position patients comfortably and safely and allow medical staff good access to the patient. Typical features of a patient stretcher include soft upholstery, a robust frame (usually made of steel) and adjustable elements such as a liftable head section. Many models are height-adjustable so that they can be adjusted to the optimum working height. Patient tables are also called examination tables or treatment tables - these terms are largely synonymous. In contrast to ordinary pieces of furniture, patient couches are tailored to the requirements of the medical sector: they can bear loads (often up to 200 kg or more), are easy to clean and offer functions such as castors or paper holders for practical use. In short: a patient table is the table on which patients lie down in the doctor's or therapist's office so that examinations, therapies or minor procedures can be carried out safely.
2How wide is a medical couch?
Medical tables (examination tables in the practice) are usually between 65 cm and 80 cm wide. This width has established itself as the standard because it offers a good compromise: 65 cm wide tables are space-saving and are completely sufficient for slimmer patients, while 80 cm wide tables offer a little more comfort and freedom of movement - especially for stronger patients or when the doctor reaches next to the patient, for example, without bumping into them. Many manufacturers therefore offer both versions. Important: The length of the table should also be taken into account. The standard length is around 190-200 cm, which is suitable for most adults.
