Internal AKRUS Conference
20. March 2026Insights for Age-Appropriate Medical Devices
We at Akrus attended the GRANNI Community’s Creative Workshop together with Fraunhofer IMTE. The workshop is part of GRANNI’s co-creative workshop series and aims to connect partners, bring new stakeholders into the open community, and jointly develop new ideas.
The focus was on exciting project concepts for age-appropriate medical devices and medical technology solutions that support healthy and resilient ageing. GRANNI’s goal is to develop socio-technical solutions to the challenges of an ageing society through an open, community-based approach – addressing, among other things, skills shortages and increasing care demands.
We found the lively exchange with other participants particularly valuable: within a short time, a wide range of perspectives from research, clinical practice, and industry came together. This kind of interdisciplinary collaboration is a core principle of the GRANNI Community – because solutions should not only be created in the laboratory, but also translated into real-world use and care settings as quickly as possible.
For Akrus, the visit marks an important step towards becoming more involved – together with Fraunhofer IMTE – in innovation- and transfer-oriented projects in the future. To support this, GRANNI relies on collaborative formats and a structured approach to idea generation: workshop concepts are subsequently developed into project proposals that can apply for community funding.
We are taking many impulses from the Creative Workshop – both for new product approaches and for the further development of our cooperation project with Fraunhofer IMTE. Our aim is to jointly develop solutions that improve day-to-day life, treatment, and care – while remaining practical, sustainable, and closely aligned with real clinical workflows.
